High-frequency vibrating screens are the most important screening machines primarily utilised in the mineral processing industry. They are used to separate feeds containing solid and crushed ores down to approximately 200 μm in size, and are applicable to both perfectly wetted and dried feed.

Vibration is produced on inclined screens by circular motion in a plane perpendicular to the screen with one-eighth to ½-in. amplitude at 700-1000 cycles per minute. The vibration lifts the material producing stratification.
